2001 - 2002 Bursary Winner
Shauna Anona Scotland was born on November 28, 1982 to George and Jacqueline Scotland. She entered Form 1 B of Queen's College in September, 1994 on the basis of her success at the Secondary Schools' Entrance Examination (SSEE).
Shauna's academic performance was excellent throughout school, and she ranked in the top five of her class over the years. She pursued a Science Programme for the CXC and was selected to take Mathematics at CXC in the Fourth Form. By 1999, therefore, Shauna had secured passes at CXC in the following subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, English 'A'
(Lanquage), English 'B'
(Literature), French, Social Studies, and Physics.
Shauna entered the Lower Sixth Form in October, 1999 to pursue Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. In May/June, 2000 she earned a Grade D in Advanced Supplementary Mathematics and a Grade IV in
CAPE Chemistry Unit 2. Shauna completed her advanced programme and in May/June, 2001 she achieved the following outstanding results at
EDEXCEL Advanced Level, London: Biology (Grade C); Chemistry (Grade AA); Mathematics (Grade B).
Shauna was a member of Austin ('C') House and she participated in both Track and Field Events for Sports as well as Cricket.
Shauna's flair for French qualified her for a place in the Valedictory Ceremony of the Head of Department, Modern Languages, in April Term, 1997.
Shauna's conduct, aftendance and punctuality were commendable and she earned the respect of her peers and teachers alike.
Shauna has chosen to pursue a career in Medicine and she has enrolled in the First Year Medical Programme at the University of Guyana for the academic year 2001/2002.
