CRICKET GEAR SHIPMENT ON ITS WAY TO GUYANA

Former 1st XI stalwart Jim Haly (member, QC 47-54), through his influential contacts, has managed to secure ca. £1800 worth of cricket equipment, gratis (well almost-no it didn't fall off the back of a lorry-he says it cost him a bottle of El Dorado, or was it XM?), which he kindly donated to his alma mater. Shipping was aranged by Jim and paid for by the Association; the vessel is scheduled to arrive ca. 11 March.

The equipment comprises 4 bats, 17 prs pads, 14 prs batsmen's gloves, 1 pr wicket-keeper's gauntlets, 2 thigh pads, bags, shirts and trousers. John Rafferty found 31 balls which were added to the shipment. The opportunity was also taken to include a wall clock for the school and two atlases for the library (including a Times Comprehensive World Atlas donated by Ian Wishart). The donor of the clock and other atlas wishes to remain anonymous.

Our grateful thanks to Jim for his resourcefulness and generosity.
