OBITUARY Dr. Frank N. Boland - (1930 - 1998) Frank was born in Trinidad and began his early education at Tranquillity Boys Intermediate School and Queens Royal College in Port-of-Spain. In 1944 the Boland family migrated to Guyana when his father accepted a position as a Judge in the Law Courts. Along with his two brothers, Malcolm and Russell, he continued his education at Queens College . All three boys were members of Pilgrim House. Frank established himself as a talented ballplayer. He was an outstanding goalkeeper both in soccer and field hockey, and a fairly competent wicket keeper and batsman. In those days, the Dias Cup belonged permanently to Queens with Frank in goal and Malcolm, Ian Leal, Selmo Gordyek, Charlie Agard and Keith Tang in defense and attackers Desmond Marks, Gig Delph, Ivor King, Bruce Pairaudeau and Harold Edgehill guaranteeing a victory. Frank was a good student and won a Middle School scholarship. He was also a member of the Cadet Corps under Capt. Maudsley and a scout under the leadership of Ernest Dow. After graduation and two years at Bookers Shipping, Frank left Guyana and entered U.W.I. where he obtained a degree in medicine.

THE JOURNEY
When I was young You took me by the hand
Manys the time upon a summers day
Nor out of tiredness would I rest instead,
Hold fast my hand, and on Your pathways keep,
When I was young You took me by the hand;
Michael A. Rouse
