Salvete! I wish to thank those Alumni who came out to our Annual General Meeting when I was elected President. We have a new executive for the year 2000-2001 and I am pleased to report that I am privileged to work with a great team of dedicated individuals.

I am however saddened by the fact that our alumni are losing interest in our association. I have noticed that the number of alumni who supported us is dwindling. We have had less participation at our events. This tells me one thing that our Alumni have either lost their pride in their Alma Mater, or our Alumni are forgetting who they are.

Up to recently we used to be a force to be reckoned with, but now we cannot even field a soccer or cricket team or even attend our own fundraisers. So I suggest to you that something is drastically wrong. I am therefore asking all Alumni to call, speak or e-mail me their concerns, as it is obvious that we are not making in-roads to our Alumni Community. I believe that by discussing this problem we will be able to make our association one to be proud of. I look forward to hearing from you.

On a more positive note, a group of forty Alumni which included family visited Guyana for the 2000 International reunion, it was an outstanding success. We had the largest delegation and the hospitality received was in true Guyanese fashion. The Queens College Old Students Association could be commended for a job well done.

We are still to find out however when the rebuilding of the school will commence. Albert Ramprasad is monitoring the progress or lack of it.

I have made some commitments for our associations in the present year the first is to raise participation in our association by all fringe alumni and to ensure that our association achieve charitable status by our fiscal yearend.

I implore you. Let us get working together to revitalize our Alumni Association.

Remember Queen’s Queen’s, Forever!
