THE LYNETTE DOLPHIN MEMORIAL BURSARY FUND

| Purpose |
To encourage children of members of the QCAA-Toronto and students of Queen’s College in Guyana to pursue postsecondary studies at university and college/cgep with the ultimate objective of obtaining a first degree/diploma/certificate.

| Conditions |
Candidates must be children of members in good standing of the Association or bona fide students of Queen’s College in Guyana. They must be graduating from their last year of high school (and/or CEGEP in Quebec) with a 75% average in their final and next-to-final year courses. They must have demonstrated some involvement in any of the following areas: community leadership, extra-curricular activities, special projects, volunteer service, outside interests or hobbies, career and educational objectives. Candidates must be entering the first year of a full-time degree/diploma program. The college/certificate program must be of a minimum one year duration. Students must begin their postsecondary studies within the year they graduate from high school.

| Program Administration |
The Bursary Fund is administered by the Queen’s College of Guyana Alumni Association - Toronto Inc. A selection is made by a committee appointed by the Executive of the Association, who base their decision on the academic excellence of the student, the level of motivation and maturity, community involvement and extracurricular activities. The Executive of the Association does not participate in the selection process.

Any Canadian degree-granting institution as well as Canadian Community Colleges.

| Payment of Award |
Upon receipt of registration at the qualifying institution, the QCAA will forward the cheque directly to the recipients.

Completed applications as well as all supporting documents mentioned above must be sent to the above address postmarked no later than June 1st.

| Selection Process |
Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee appointed by the executive of the QCAA and operating at arm’s length. The selection committee will determine from the Secretary of the QCAA if the applicants’ parent is a financial member of the Association. In the case of a student from Queen’s College in Guyana, a letter from the Headmaster/Headmistress confirming that the student is a bona fide applicant. Decisions of the Committee are final and may not be appealed.

| Obligation of Winner |
The recipient must enter the educational institution, on a full-time basis (as defined by the educational institution), in the year of application. Request for deferment will be considered only in unusual circumstances and the Selection Committee will make the decision.
