OBITUARY

Vincent Percival CHUNG, familiarly known as “VP”, died peacefully at his Ottawa home on January 24, 2002. He had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in April 2001.

Our condolences go out to his wife Christina and children Vincent, Janine and Alexander. We also extend our condolences to his sisters Hazel, Bernice, Joan, Jennifer and Joy, and his brothers Richard, David and Rodrick.

Vincent was a well-known and beloved athlete of Austin House. He participated in cricket, soccer and field hockey. He represented the school in all these sports.

After completing his school career at Queen’s College, Vincent won a government scholarship that allowed him to go to Durham University in U.K. from which he graduated with a Master’s degree. As an Agricultural Engineer. This qualification gave him the honour of being the only Guyanese with this particular grade for several years.

For those who had the pleasure of knowing him, his passing is a painful reminder of our own mortality.

Rest in peace VP
